Narendra Modi assassination plan resembled ‘Rajiv Gandhi incident’, as the Pune Police seized a letter from an internal communication occurred between the Maoists, as reported to court by the Pune Police on Thursday.
The letter reads about a radical planning to assassinate Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, which really appears similar to the incident of assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, 6th Prime Minister of India.
Due to being associated with the banned Communist Party of India – Maoist (CPI-Maoist), five people have been arrested on Wednesday including lawyer Surendra Gadling, Dalit activist Sudhir Dhawale, activists Mahesh Raut, Rona Wilson and Shoma Sen.
The people are the top brass of the urban Maoists and arrested for being observed having association with the Bhima-Koregaon caste violence happened in January. Police also reported to the court that the letter has been obtained from the house of activist Rona Wilson in Delhi.
Ujjwala Pawar, public prosecutor claimed that the letter also discusses regarding the need of Rs. 8 crore to get M-4 rifle as well as four lakh rounds. In addition it also talks on attempting another Rajiv Gandhi incident.
The letter quotes that, “We are thinking along the lines of another Rajiv Gandhi-type incident. It sounds suicidal and there is a chance that we might fail but party must deliberate on our proposal.”
“…in spite of big defeats like Bihar and West Bengal, Modi has successfully established BJP governments in more than 15 states. If this pace continues then it would mean immense trouble for the party on all fronts…Col Kisan and a few other senior comrades have proposed concrete steps to end the Modi-era.” reads the letter’s copy disclosed by a news agency.
